Guide for 7-8 inch (part number B)

Installing a 7\"–8\" radio Bilmedie radios with item numbers starting with B

This guide shows you how to install your Bilmedie radio in the 7\" to 8\" size range. Radios with item numbers starting with B come pre-assembled from the factory.

You can find the item number on the sheet inside the box. Check the first letter of the item number, for example B077.

1. Remove the old radio

Start by removing the old radio from the car so you can access the vehicle’s original connectors and wiring.

  • Switch the car off completely before you begin
  • Carefully remove the trim panels around the radio
  • Unscrew the old radio
  • Disconnect all plugs from the old radio

2. Identify the radio cable type

Compare your cable with the image below and find the type that matches your car:

  • Left: With CANBUS box
  • Centre: With white connector, without CANBUS box
  • Right: Without CANBUS

It is important to choose the correct cable type before continuing with the installation.

3. Connect the cables to the new radio

Connect the black end of the radio wiring loom to the back of the new radio. Then connect all white plugs to the new radio.

  • Connect the black main plug to the back of the radio
  • Connect all white plugs to the relevant ports
  • Install the CANBUS box if it is supplied with this model

Always check that all plugs are fully seated before fitting the radio into the car.

4. Connect the white plug from the signal cable

Remember to connect the white plug from the signal cable to the back of the new radio. This cable is important, as it ensures a stable connection to your phone.

5. Install the FM adapter if required

If your car requires an FM adapter, it must be connected to the round socket on the back of the new radio.

  • Locate the radio’s round antenna connector
  • Fit the FM adapter correctly
  • Check that the adapter is securely connected

6. Install the GPS antenna and WiFi antenna if required

The GPS antenna and WiFi antenna can be installed if needed. If the car already has phone connectivity, this is not necessary.

  • Your phone provides the best signal in most cases
  • The GPS antenna can be used if extra satellite signal is needed
  • The WiFi antenna can be used if a wireless connection is needed

7. Set up CANBUS and steering wheel controls

If the radio has CANBUS, this must be configured under Factory Settings.

  • Connect the radio to a WiFi network. Open Factory Settings in the radio menu. Use one of these passcodes: 000000, 1234, 3378, 8878, 8888, 16176699.
  • Select the correct CANBUS configuration for the vehicle
  • If needed, use the SWC app to configure steering wheel controls

If the vehicle does not use CANBUS or steering wheel controls, this step can be skipped.

8. Set up Apple CarPlay or Android Auto

When using wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for the first time, open the T-Link or Z-Link app on the radio and follow the on-screen setup.

  • Open the T-Link or Z-Link app on the radio
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your phone
  • Approve the connection on your phone

Once the connection has been established, you can also adjust the radio settings to suit your preferences, for example:

  • Language
  • Audio settings
  • Display settings
  • Startup apps and other system settings

9. Troubleshooting

If the radio is not working as expected, you can try resetting the system or updating the software.

  • Go to Factory Settings in the radio menu
  • First try a Factory Reset
  • You can also select System Update
  • The radio must be connected to WiFi in order to update

After a reset or update, the radio may need to be set up again with language, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
